Academic leaders, medical industry experts, entrepreneurs, the investor community and public officials will gather in Camden on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at a special NJBIA event exploring how to leverage the synergy of South Jersey’s “EDS & MEDS” ecosystem to grow the region’s economy.
Today, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross’ bipartisan Jobs Plus Recovery Act was signed into law – as part of the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities Act. Norcross’ bill establishes a pilot program to give addicts access to job training services during the recovery process, helping lower the likelihood of relapse and providing a boost to local economies.

Now, innovative programs like this will ensure that Camden keeps rising and leading the nation on improvements to our justice system," Rep. Donald Norcross (D-1) said. A new network led by the City of Camden’s educational institutions hopes to increase the number Camden residents who have earned post-secondary education credentials by 50 percent by 2023.
On Saturday, Rowan University, Rutgers University—Camden, Camden County College, the Camden City School District (CCSD) and over 15 community programs came together at the Salvation Army Kroc Center to launch the Camden College Access Network (CCAN) — an initiative to connect Camden students and their families to post-secondary educational resources with the goal to make higher education a reality for more Camden residents.
U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross has proved himself to be a dedicated representative of the constituents of the 1st Congressional District.
Although the district represents only Maple Shade and Palmyra in Burlington County, Norcross plays a vital role in the U.S. House as a staunch supporter of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, the state’s second-largest employer.
Norcross, of Camden, is well-positioned as a member for four years of the House Armed Services Committee. Most important, he was part of the New Jersey contingent of lawmakers that secured two dozen KC-46 refueling tankers at the base starting in 2020, which will better fortify the base against a Base Realignment and Closure threat as well as provide numerous jobs.
