No one wants precious police time wasted searching for a fingerprint instead of for a missing child.”

Today, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01), member of the House Committee on Education and Labor, reintroduced the Remedial Education Improvement Act to make remedial – commonly called developmental – education programs more effective, fair and less expensive. The Act would improve or develop programs based on five reform models that have a proven track record. It would implement these reforms, establish a competitive grant program and allow for the use of federal student aid dollars to support up to two years of developmental education. Norcross was joined by Representatives Seth Moulton (MA-06), TJ Cox (CA-21), Angie Craig (MN-02) and Andy Kim (NJ-03) in introducing the bill.

Today, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross, a leader on retirement security in Congress, cheered the bipartisan House passage of H.R. 397, the Rehabilitation for Multiemployer Pensions Act. The Act – commonly called “The Butch Lewis Act” – addresses the nation’s worsening multiemployer pension crisis and Norcross called for his colleagues to support workers ahead of the vote.

“Americans have been rightfully demanding lower healthcare costs and today the House responded to their call,” said Congressman Norcross, a former IBEW and SJ AFL-CIO leader who spent years negotiating workers’ benefit packages. “Congress has been continually delaying this policy instead of enacting an outright repeal, which means workers and negotiators have been unable to properly plan or bargain during three-to-five year wage and benefit negotiations. By repealing this tax, we’re giving workers the certainty they need to plan their benefit packages, and working families are safeguarded from an undue increase to their healthcare costs.”
