As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rock the global economy, governments at every level are scrambling for ways to support vulnerable workers and their families. There is certainly a need for new and creative thinking to meet these new challenges, and that includes expanding existing programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
CAMDEN - A $630 million shipyard contract will bring an estimated 1,200 jobs to the South Jersey-Philadelphia area, a local congressman predicted Thursday. "This new shipbuilding contract is a major win," U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross, D-Camden, said of the deal to build "national security multi-mission vessels" at Philly Shipyard.
“Working families and businesses are hurting right now and need the tools and resources to help weather this difficult time,” Norcross said. “Labor organizations and business trade associations play an integral role, even in good times, in helping workers and businesses wade through the details of federal resources and regulations, something especially important now.”
“The federal government needs to provide support for our state and municipalities who have been frontline responders during this difficult time,” wrote members of the delegation.
