Hundreds of people from across Southern New Jersey came together on Sunday night, Oct. 28, at Cong. Beth El in Voorhees to mourn the victims of the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh. The event, which was co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey and the Tri-County Board of Rabbis, featured moving tributes from Federation leadership, area rabbis, and local political leaders.
Tri-County Board of Rabbis President and Beth El Associate Rabbi Andy Green told those at the vigil that “We grieve with our people.” He also said that as Americans, we could trust each other, our first responders, and political leaders. He spoke of a vision of peace for all people.
Congressman Donald Norcross said that strength and community would get us through this together. “All we saw and heard yesterday was not America,” he said.
