Congressman Donald Norcross Endorsed for Re-Election by NEA
CHERRY HILL, NJ – Today, the National Education Association (NEA) announced the endorsement of U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross for re-election in the 2020 election cycle with support from its affiliate New Jersey Education Association (NJEA). This announcement is the latest in a string of progressive, labor, environmental and civil rights groups and individuals supporting Congressman Norcross’ re-election. Most recently, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC (CPC PAC) – the political arm of the Congressional Progressive Caucus – selected Norcross as one of 31 incumbent progressive champions to receive their endorsement.
“Every student in our country deserves a top-notch education, and it’s up to us to fully support our public school system and all of the men and women that devote their lives to educating our children,” said Congressman Donald Norcross. “I hope to earn the opportunity to continue proudly serving South Jersey in Congress, and I am thankful for the support I’ve received from the education and labor community in New Jersey. Together, we will strongly stand up to Trump, DeVos and their Republican enablers to stop their assault on America’s students, working families, our health care, our values and our conscience.”
Donald Norcross – who serves on the House Committee on Education and Labor and is the Congressional Progressive Caucus’ Vice-Chair and Liaison to Labor – is a product of New Jersey’s outstanding public school system, a graduate of Camden County College and a skilled registered apprenticeship program.
“In these challenging times, public education needs strong advocates in elected office who stand up for working families, middle class values, and equal pay for women. NJEA members and our supporters like Congressman Norcross continue to make New Jersey’s public schools top in the nation – as recently confirmed by Education Week, which named our public schools number one in the country. In Congress, Don Norcross fights to ensure our educators get the tools needed for success and that students receive the resources they deserve. We especially appreciate his leadership on increasing professional development and enhancing public service loan forgiveness,” said Marie Blistan, President of the NJEA. “As a strong labor supporter, Don Norcross is unafraid to stand up against the national forces attacking the rights of workers to organize. While in Congress, he’s demonstrated his dedication to public education and his respect for unions. Congressmen Donald Norcross has earned NJEA’s support for re-election to the House of Representatives, representing District 1.”
